Our Achievements

Sexual and reproductive health rights education conducted in schools and communities with a focus on menstrual hygiene and proper disposal of used menstrual hygiene products. Awareness sessions have been conducted in over 10 communities reaching over 5,000 community members and 1000 girls.

Kazi partners with health facilities in the communities to provide the medical information. Sensitization sessions have also included boys with a focus on reducing period stigma and making menstruation a normal fact of life. In May 2023, Kazi actively participated in the Menstrual Hygiene day and reached to vulnerable girls with menstrual education and products.  Girls were also encouraged to plant trees to demonstrate their maturity and responsible action to climate change.

Through a school focused program, Kazi has mobilized students in 10 secondary schools and one University to respond to climate change with over 500 climate club members and 30 climate ambassadors. Students have been mobilized into clubs and lead climate adaptation interventions including waste collection especially plastics and management. Students collect $0.5 from their parents that is used to buy plastic disposal bins and provide education to the students and parents on proper waste management.. In holidays the climate ambassadors participate in shredding of plastics at the Kazi Women Foundation Waste recycling pilot and earn some funds to support their school requirements.

We are currently piloting a partnership with parish leaders to mobilize women, girls and youth to collect plastics and recyclable as we provide collection tools- gloves, containers- which aligns with the government parish development model, the youth, girls and women are paid for their collections which resources they use to support their needs and those of their families
