Our Core Program Areas

The climate crisis continues to grow and its impact on women and girls cannot be underestimated. Women and girls contribution to the crisis is negligible yet they suffer the loss of land which affects food sovereignty, the impact of mining and industries- which leave devastating effects on the health of women and girls.

Pollution and the increasing heat affect water safety and access to water- yet women have the greatest burden of collecting water for their children and families. Women’s economic activity and livelihoods are affected by loss of land and forced evictions but most importantly are unable to provide food for their families which also contributes to all forms of violence in the home.

Kazi supports women and girls by increasing awareness, training, community organizing, movement building, and advocacy support,  resources for climate change adaptation interventions at individual and group levels.  Kazi promoted youth engagement in environmental protection through efforts to save the planet through the collection of plastics and learning practical skills at the Kazi plastic upcycling pilot.

Kazi mobilizes women, girls, and youth at the parish level to promote climate change adaptation practices through the distribution of tree seedlings for income, community women movements, and income-generative activities. This model is integrated with the Government of Uganda Parish Development model.

Women and girls have unique needs that are often not well perceived and or met. Limited access to information affects their choices and ability to demand for their rights and access to social and health services. Women and Girls face a lot of violence ranging from rape, defilement, child marriage, marital rape and physical assault and many times lack a support system especially where there’s male dominance.

Kazi women foundation supports women and girls to identify their sexual and reproductive health needs, provides information and training. Women and girls are supported to understand their rights and strengthen their capacity to defend and protect these rights.

Kazi also builds partnerships to ensure girls and women have access to SRHR services including safe shelters, and legal support. Kazi implements the SASA together as a model to addressing SGBV, counseling for couples and children living in domestic violence, children with disabilities who face segregation, etc.

Kazi leverages legal expertise from partner organizations to offer legal support to victims of sexual and gender-based violence. Menstrual hygiene education and the provision of sanitary products have been proven to improve the environment for women and support girls to remain in school.

Our education emphasizes access to family planning services and capacity building for women and girls to advocate for their rights and also improve their livelihoods.

Kazi will access resources from Philanthropies, individuals, and government donors for grant-making to various initiatives run by women and girls and build a culture of accountability across the different groups being supported.
