Our Story
Kazi Story
Kazi Women Foundation (KWF) was established in 2020 as a local initiative that brings together Women and Girls to co create solutions to the challenges in their lvies. This was after the COVID-19 pandemic had numerous effects on women and girls from school dropouts, early pregnancy, increased sexual and gender based violence and food crisis for families. Kazi – A Swahili word meaning work was purposefully selected to reflect the hard and amazing work that women do but what needs to be done to make the lives of women and girls what it should be.
Kazi Women Foundation was registered in May 2023 as a not for profit in Uganda as an initiative that will design, and implement projects and programs that focus on making the lives of women and girls better. Girls and women will be at the epicenter of their development. The foundation focuses on protecting and promoting the rights of women and girls in areas of education, health and livelihoods with a goal to contribute to the Sustainable development goals. Women and Girls design climate solutions for reducing the impact of climate change. Health including access to quality health services- focused on reproductive health; menstrual hygiene, mental health and HIV/AIDS.
